SIX SIGMA GREEN BELT FOR SMES: 24TH - 26th September & 9th & 10th October 2008

First Polymer Training offers another of its highly successful 5-Day Green Belt courses later this month. Designed for middle management, supervisors and specialists (e.g. engineers, laboratory analysts, cost accountants), a knowledge of statistics is not required before attending the programme. The most successful participants are likely to be those who have supervisory experience, and who are well regarded as change agents within their workplace. Each completed project will yield in the region of €20,000 operating cost savings to participating companies. Those presenting for certification will attend a post implementation review, involving presentation of their project, a written examination and a certification ceremony. LOGISTICS IRELAND CONFERENCE: 24 September 2008

The theme for the 2008 conference is ‘Building Resilient and Sustainable Supply Chains’. Conference speakers will highlight the need for supply chains that are both sustainable (i.e. relative to the environment, CO2 footprint, use of the earth's resources) and resilient (i.e. commercially efficient, robust, and meet customers needs at an economic price). ENGINEERS IRELAND INNOVATION AWARDS:

Engineers Ireland is delighted to announce the launch of the Annual Innovations Awards 2008. The awards are designed to recognise innovation and achievement across all disciplines of engineering and celebrate the invaluable contribution the engineering profession makes to the community. There are two categories of award: Innovative Company of the Year and Innovative Engineer of the Year. The closing dates for entries is 31 October 2008.
