CORDATUS uCONSULTING                                                March 2009 Newsletter

Did any of you hear the head of Fujitsu Siemens in Ireland, on the Sunday Business Show recently? She recommended that Brian Cowen run the government as outlined in Jeffrey Liker's book "The Toyota Way"! Smart woman - but I don't think Brian was listening!

THE TOYOTA WAY (ABRIDGED AUDIO VERSION)

For those of you, who like Brian Cowen have overloaded schedules and little time for reading, why not try an audio version of the book? The audio version may not provide anything like the intellectual learning advantage of studying Liker's book, however it's definitely better that wallowing in bliss (I'm using an euphemism here!).

INTERVIEW WITH JACK WELCH

'You'll have it in your bones to get outside of your internal focus, to your external focus. And everything you do internally will be thought of as "how is it going to impact a customer?' " so says Jack Welch on this 2 minute YouTube clip of 2007. During his 20 years as CEO with GE (of 40 years tenure at GE in total) Jack Welch is credited with bringing GE from  $12 billion company in 1981 to approximately $280 billion in 2001. He was, and remains in retirement, a staunch advocate of the six sigma approach to customer satisfaction and business development.

Best wishes to those of you who are facing recessionary career challenges at the moment. I trust you lean and six sigma experience will assist with placing you in a glittering future career path.
